Kelly Menn ...Pam Gurtis
Karen Lipski... Diane Grega
Carol Hromisin ...Dave Grega
The minutes were read and accepted from the February 18 th 2011 meeting.
The Treasurer's report was given by Mary Jo Fulton. The report reflected an ending balance of $5,682.45. The report included a profit of $340.00 from the Middle School Dance and a profit of $622.10 from the Pasta Fundraiser. The report was accepted as read.
A discussion was held by Janet Sott explaining that certain events have to be decided without a general meeting. Examples she pointed out were the Graduation Day Water Sales and the dances held at the Middle School and the Annual Banquet. If these events are not booked in advance, other booster clubs will be happy to take them. It was decided that if things need to be booked in advance it should be done .
Graduation Day Water Sales - After much discussion it was decided to sell the
water again this year at the Stadium on June 10, 2011. Everyone in attendance volunteered to donate a case of water. Final details will be discussed at the June 7, 2011 meeting.
Middle School Dance - A vote was taken to decide whether or not the Booster club should have the 2012 dance at the Middle school. It was decided to have the dance to be held Thursday February 16 th , 2012 . A discussion was held to included give-aways to promote the dance for better attendance. Possible give- aways could include I-Tunes cards, gift cards, etc. Further discussion was tabled until the dance date is closer.
Audit for the Treasurer's Books - Janet asked that the booster club implement that the books be audited. She pointed out all the publicity about arrests associated with thefts of funds from various organizations. The audit would eliminate any concerns we might have. The audit would insure that the books be audited whenever officers change. The Grega's were going to get a price from their son who is a CPA and will let the Booster Club know what it will be.
Janet recommended that all parents attend the next school board meeting to be held on May 11 th , 2011. All sports programs are in jeopardy and even elimination, especially the 7 th and 8 th grade programs.
Protective Eyeware for the upcoming 2011 season is now mandatory. Janet was in touch with Sandy Mackay and Joe Rodrigues and was informed by them that the
School district will not be paying for them. They checked with the other local school districts and were told by them they are also not paying for them. It was reported at the meeting that Marilyn Pasqualichio is now going to be a distributor and has already given Coach Fithian samples. Carol Hromisin suggested that the Booster Club give the girls
$10.00 towards the cost of the protective eyewear. Also discussed was the purchasing of extra goggles to be held by Coach Fithian in the event one of the girls goggles break during the game. It was decided to give the JV and Varsity girls the $10.00 toward the purchase of the eyeware.
The car wash date was rescheduled for May 28 th , 2011 with a rain date of May 29 th , 2011. The price will be $5.00 per ticket. The time for the car wash will be from 10am to 2pm. Beth Stefanides will call Firestone to double check on the date. Each player from the team will get 5 tickets @ $5.00 a ticket to sell for the car wash. An email will be sent out when the date is finalized. Mr. Bezek will check into getting items we need for the car wash.
Camp - The camp dates are scheduled for June 14 th to June 18 th . Camp times are 5-7:30 p.m. on the 14 th and 15 th and 9 am to 12 pm on the 16 th , 17 th and 18 th . Marilyn Pasquilicho/Coach Fithian requested to use the Valley West Stadium for the West Side Rumble Leagur this year. The board turned down the proposal because of a lawsuit that arised from a college player at a high school clinic leaving a high school player a parapalygic. Coach Fithian and Marilyn might send a new proposal to include only high school players for the board to reconsider.
College Showcase – The lease/proposal will be submitted to the board at the May 11 meeting for approval. The date would be for July 16 th to showcase local talent.
First Practice/Try-Out is Monday August 15, 2011. Team Photos are scheduled for Thursday, August 18 @4:30 with Photography by Jay.

Bill Watkins will get pricing for this years booklets.
Annual Picnic – Mrs. Carol Hromision graciously offered her home again this year for the annual picnic. The date has been set for August 14 th from 3 to 6 p.m. One parent is required to attend the picnic with their daughter. There will be much information talked about and handed out to the new parents from Coach Fithian. Final plans will be discussed in more detail at the June/July meetings.
Stand Duty – Kelly Menn will be in charge of the 2011 Food Stand. She will devise a schedule for each and every parent to work the stand for a game. Varsity Parents will work during JV games and JV parents will work during Varsity games. It is the parents responsibility to find or switch with someone if they are not able to work the day they are scheduled. Parents that have stand duty are asked to donate a food item (pierogies, pasta salad, soup) to be sold at the game. Mr. Bezek will check into getting buns or rolls for the hot dogs and hamburgs donated this year. Last year we had a problem with the tent blowing away. The Sott's will donate their own tent this year and will secure it with either sandbags or cinderblocks. Mr. Bezek will check into getting the sandbags for the tent. Kelly Menn will decide on the prices for the menu items.
Parking in the stadium during games and/or practices is NOT allowed. Signs are to be posted.
Fundraising Ideas – Ideas for fundraisers were discussed. They included
Spaghetti dinner at High School, Pasta Fundraiser, Mixers (Dukey's or Roccos), Applebees Food night and Star Tresses.
Rosters – Discussion was held about passing out rosters at home games with teams and players names from each team. Hopefully, they will be able to be put in the ad booklets and sold at the games. Janet will try to co-ordinate this with Coach Fithian and Sandy Mackay.
Bill Watkins suggested having the singing of the national anthem at home games night by a Valley West Student. Janet will contact Mr. Wilski and Mr. Kolojechick to see if they have anyone that would be interested once the season gets closer.
Mr. and Mrs. Grega volunteered to handle the sale of the Boathouse Jackets, porch flags and clothing items for the team. The will get samples and prices and present them at a meeting to follow. We can then decide on the choices.

he meeting adjourned at 8:35 pm. The next scheduled meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 7 th at 7 pm in the WVW Middle School Conference Room.

Dear Celeste and Family: It has come to my attention that I forgot to mention you in my e-mail yesterday. I sincerely apologize to you and your family. Please understand I did not intentionally mean to do that . Your contributions over the past four years are more than commendable and to be honest I was not aware of all you and your family have contributed to this program. I would like to share some of that with the entire Booster Club, as I will be forwarding this to everyone. For those of you who do not know, Celeste and her husband have faithfully donated the hamburg and hot dog rolls for the past four years. Celeste managed to make the arrangements and payment for the Northface jackets that were purchased this year for the girls. She stepped in and was able to handle the banquet and a lot of the preparation for it at the last minute. Her and her family constantly helped at the stand with both set-up and clean-up. John and Brett both helped with numerous tasks. I can go on and on but I think you will all agree their involvement was tremendous. We wish Alexis continued success at East Stroudsburg University and hope they will keep in touch with their Wyoming Valley West Field Hockey Family. THANK YOU CELESTE, JOHN, BRETT AND ALEXIS FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE FIELD HOCKEY PROGRAM AT WYOMING VALLEY WEST! IT HAS BEEN GREATLY APPRECIATEDAND WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

7Feb2011
from the incoming President
I wanted to first take this opportunity to thank Maureen Anistranski and Carol Hromisin for the OUTSTANDING jobs they did in their positions as President and Treasurer this past year. Their dedication and contribution to the field hockey program at Wyoming Valley West is beyond commendable.
Next I would like to introduce myself, Janet Sott , as the upcoming President of the Booster Club for the 2011 season. I can only hope to continue the exemplary job done by the past officers. As you are aware, it does take more than just a few people to do so. In order for our program to continue to succeed we need everyone's help. Over the next few months, we will be depending on you to do just that. The upcoming new officers are as follows: Beth Stefanides, Vice-President, Mary Jo Fulton, Treasurer and Amy Caprari, Secretary . Kelly Menn has graciously accepted the postion of Stand Coordinator as well. Please join me in making this transition a huge success as we all look forward to a great season.
Attached you will find the minutes from the Booster Club meeting held last night. There are two events that need your immediate attention. The first is the dance we have planned for Friday, February 18 at the Middle School. We need parents, as well as girls, to volunteer their time. Two shifts have been set up. One is 6:30-8:00 and the other is 8:00 to 9:30. The first shift is pretty well covered by the people who attended last nights meeting. We still will need volunteers for the second shift. Please contact myself or the other officers listed above if you can participate. The second event is the " PASTA" fundraiser listed in the minutes. It seems to be a really neat idea. The best part is the Booster Club receives a 50% profit!!! Marilyn Pasqualichio is going to be in touch with Coach Fithian to try and get the information to the girls. We are looking for any information on the upcoming 8th grade class. We need current parent and e-mail contact information. Any help on obtaining this information will be greatly appreciated.
I will be comprising a "Schedule of Events " so you can start marking your calendars! I will try and get that out as soon as possible. We have to compile a list of dates for various events and I will have to coordinate this with Coach Fithian.
As always please feel free to express your thoughts and ideas. They are always welcome and very much appreciated. I look forward to seeing everyone soon!
Thank you,
Thank you!
