Girls should wear uniform or boathouse jackets when collecting at gate. Janet Sott will contact Chief Keiper of the Kingston Police to let him know that the girls are collecting. Ms. Keating also said we would need to get permission from the administration of the towns, except for Kingston, to have adult only bucket drives. A discussion was held for the Breast Cancer Fund Raiser Game. Maureen Anistranski will talk to Coach Fithian to see what game she would like to try and set up this event as we do not want to distract the girls during important games. The Team Booklet and the ads pending were discussed. Again, please get whatever ads you currently have to Maureen Anistranski as soon as possible. We understand that a lot of you are waiting for the pictures of your daughters to make their page, but it would be helpful to the club to at least have the business ads and any other ads turned in. Thank you. The parent schedule for the stand has been given to each player to give to their parents. If you have a conflict, please try to make the switch on your own with another parent. When it is your turn to work and you are able to make a food item for the stand, please call Tina Gaylets or Mary Jo Fulton with that information. Joseph Anistranski brought up the Letter to the Superintendent concerning the relocation of the stand at Third Ave. School to be brought to the stadium. The club was in agreement that we should still send the letter to Mr. Suppon even though we have heard he is already not in agreement. A team training session by Kayla Bayshore was presented by Joseph Anistranski. He will be looking into possible dates that would be available for both Kayla and Coach Fithian. The girls will be wearing White tops under their uniforms in colder weather. It was discussed that the club would purchase these tops, however the girls decided that they want to purchase them on their own as they have different preferences such as Under Armor, or any other brand that they are comfortable wearing. The girls are to wear black spandex shorts under their skirts, and at this time Coach Fithian likes the girls to wear white headbands during the game. We will be planning Senior Night that will be held on October 20th. The event will take place from 7 to 9pm on a Thursday night and will feature: a selection of food; baskets and items to be raffled and a 50/50 drawing. Once we have solidified the arrangements you will receive all updated information. (normally this type of event can offer a profit of @$1200. We are hoping that the event will generate enough interest to hit that mark. It is also an easy and fun night which could prove to be something we can do as a booster club a few times to build up funds for the team and look forward to everyone's assistance and participation. 5) Gifts for the Players at our annual banquet: Several ideas were offered to the group for consideration. We will be reviewing the pricing and availability of these items, make a decision and then purchase them. ( I have chosen not to post the exact name of these items as we are keeping these items “under wrap” as so our players are not clued in on what they will be receiving as their gift) Any Additional Topics/Discussion: Michelle McCabe was kind enough to bring us some information on several other fund raising events that have proven to be quite easy as well as profitable. She had four different events that we will now look into and will keep everyone aware of upcoming plans. (Owen Street Bakery poppy seed & nut roll sale; pierogi sale) (Sanitary Bakery pizza sale) (Poinsettia plant sale) (Hoagie sale through Dagwood Hoagie Shop) All are great ideas and also wonderful ways to give back to the local merchants who are located in our school district. If anyone else has a connection to any merchan ts in the area who offer fund raising events please let us know. Our next meeting will be held on Monday, October 19 th at 7pm at Pizza Bella as we will need to gather in order to receive all of the information necessary for our “Mixer” to be held on October 29 th . Sep09 Hi Everyone! Here are the minutes from last night's WVW Field Hockey Booster Club Meeting which was held at 7pm at Pizza Bella in Forty-Fort. In Attendance: Marilyn Pasqualichio, Celeste Good, Carol Hromisin, Debbie Bowen, Jane Lukas, Debbie Rollman, Randall Proctor, Maureen Anistranski, Joe Anistranski, Tammy Barber and Cindy Davenport.
Open Items from previous meeting: 1) Delivery of the Shed - Our shed was delivered on Friday, Sept 5 th at the stadium and is being utilized by not only the field hockey team but the booster club as we have been able to place our items from the concession stand inside. Randy Proctor will be attaching a few hooks and two shelves today in order to accommodate some of the team's items. (We are going to have a few of the players help stencil the shed)
2) Backpacks - The team's backpacks have been received and are ready for their names to be embroidered on the front. It should take only a week to have this accomplished and then we will be able to present them to the girls and to the coaches. THANKYOU goes out to all of the players, parents and coaches who participated in the “special” bucket brigade in order to raise the money to pay for the backpacks. We had to become quite ingenious as we “lost” our “normal” corner locations to another club who were out that day. With everyone's efforts we were able to raise just enough to cover the initial costs of the backpacks. Celeste Good made arrangements for Sharper Embroidery to add the player's name and uniform numbers to each backpack at a small cost to the club. 3) Team's Website- We are still in need of several different player's profiles to complete/update the website. Rick Stefanides has been doing a gr eat job adding items on a daily and weekly basis. I urge everyone to access the website and check it out. You may also direct any college coaches to the site in order for them to receive your daughter's information in one click of a button. There are also some great pictures loaded as well as the team schedule, results and directions to a variety of the fields. Rick has also been so gracious as to keep up with the booster club info and the times and dates of our next meetings. Please forward me any information that you feel would be appropriate for the site. I will then confirm the information and pass it along to Rick. Treasurer's Report - by Debbie Bowen - Last month's balance was $8219.39 with a few large debits leaving us with a new balance of $5,357.94 (if you ar e interested in a item-by-item breakdown of the deposits and expenditures you are more than welcome to contact Debbie for a list). Agenda - President's Items: 1) Concession Stand - I want to thank everyone who has pitched in to help the stand run smoothly. We have been able to make a good amount of money in just the three dates that we have run the stand. We will need to create a better system for working the stand and are looking for volunteers to sign up for the remainder of the home games. I also would like to ask if anyone would be interested in baking20or cooking a food item to be sold at the stand. Maureen Anistranski took the lead by creating a plan in order to "staff" each of the remaining HOME games as well as this weekend's scrimmage. The following is a listing of the games as well as the names of the family who will be responsible to have a representative working the stand. (If you are unable to work due to a conflict it will become your responsibility to switch with someone else in order to ensure that the stand is staffed correctly). WORKING THE STAND DURING THE VARSITY GAMES = Del Valley Mon Sept 21 Crestwood Tues Sept 29 Wy o. Area Thurs Oct 8 5:30pm Lehman Wed Oct 14 6:30 pm Coughlin Sat Oct 17 11 am
The Varsity Parents will open and close the stand and work during the Junior Varsity ga mes. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. (I do have a copy of the schedule which will be sent home with your daughters or you can pick one up at the game tonight)
2) Taking the team to view a College Game - Over the past couple of years we have always talked of taking the entire team to see a college game but had never been able to coordinate this effort. We have begun plans to accomplish this by attending the Villanova and Louisville game at Villanova University. It will be held on Saturday, Octo ber 11 th at 12noon. It is our thought that this would be a GREAT experience for the girl's to see the competitiveness and level of play that will be apparent during a Division I competition. We will need to discuss traveling arrangements and whether we will rent a bus or simply car pool. Randy is checking on the pricing to rent a bus through Martz trailways. We will keep you posted on further information. 3) Senior Night - We need to begin plans to prepare for the event by asking for volunteers for different aspects of the night. 1) Media= Rick Stefanides who will be in charge of taking the photos of the seniors, the seniors and the coaches and the seniors and their parents as well as photos during the games. 2) Decorations= (I have some=2 0decorations that we have used in the past and we have also had some large ribbons “willed” over to us by Jane Lukas (Carol H & Celeste G) 3) Flowers for the seniors and the coaches (Celeste G) 4) A person to read the player profiles and announce during the game. (Coach Amber) 5) Concession Stand arrangements and gathering alumni parents and/or players to work the stand (Maureen A & Beth S) 6) Someone to Gather all of the senior's flags to be proudly displayed at the stadium (Beth S) 7) Some one to order the balloons for the seniors. (Carol H) ** (If anyone else is interested in becoming involved please speak to people that have been designated for that particular aspect of the event. ) 4) Annual Team Banquet - We will need to begin plans for our upcoming annual team banquet to be held at the East Mountain Inn. We will need to set up committees to take care of several different aspects of the event such as : Senior Gifts; Team Gifts; Decorations; Media Display; Menu, etc. The banquet is scheduled to take place on Sunday, December 6th between the hours of 4pm and 8pm. Please mark it on your calendars to attend. I am sure that it will be another wonderful evening! 5) WVW Spartan Merchandise for sale at Football Home games - Both Tina Gaylets and Mary Jo Fulton had worked the home game the other night by selling the merchandise but are also still taking orders from the players for the items we have to offer. Tina had a GREAT SUGGESTION in that we would draw attention to the merchandise by offering raffle tickets to win the" Ultimate Fan Package" which will feature quite an array of the many items that we have for sale. This "package" will be on display at the home football games as well as the high school and junior high school games with tickets selling at 1 ticket for $1; 3 ticket s for 2 dollars and 10 tickets for $5. Another suggestion was to offer an item at each of the home field hockey games to be chanced off. Sales are coming in but these two ideas will put us over the top and really help to promote the wonderful items we have available. 6) WVW Field Hockey Clothing Items- Debbie Rollman is heading this effort and has already placed an order for a variety of items. Please make sure that if you are still interested in purchasing something that you contact Debbie as soon as possible so that she may place an additional order. (the only item that she has to offer that will no longer be able to be ordered would be the rugby shirt due to the tim e constraints that we have on ordering them. All other items may be ordered throughout the season). Additional Topics: 1) WVW Booklet - The FINAL DEADLINE to get your advertisements in to be included in the booklet is this FRIDAY, Sept 17th!!!!!!!!!
2) Benefit on last Sunday (Tina) - Jean Lipski (head fh coach at Lehman) had organized a charity event held this past Sunday at the Lehman turf/track. It was to raise much needed money to help defray the medical costs of a teen who attends Dallas high school20named Corey Ehret. The Lehman & Dallas varsity teams were in attendance along with the Dallas track team. Our WVW jr high team (@ 15 girls) attended. The WVW group had assembled gift baskets that were chanced off at the end of the day. They had donated about 200 dollars. This was a GREAT event for our student athletes and I wanted to make sure that they received recognition for their efforts. 3) Suggestion for a "quick" fund raising event (RICK) - Rick S had brought a suggestion to the table regarding the idea of contacting one of the local restaurant/bars to promote a fund raiser on a Friday night during "happy hour". (The event would ONLY involve the parents as NO players will be present or involved in the creation, development of the event). As we proceed, we will keep everyone updated with all further information. This type of event looks to bring in between $1200 to $1800 for only a few hours of time and effort.
Next meeting will be held on Monday, October 5 th at 7pm at Pizza Bella in Forty-Fort. Items of discussion will be limited to Senior Night and the Banquet. We are looking for volunteers for both event s and ideas for the gifts that we present to the team during the banquet. I look forward to seeing everyone in attendance at next month's meeting.
